Devang Patel is one of three assistant coaches added to the Felician women's and men's cross-country staff by Elson Smajlaj in August 2018. Smajlaj and Patel were teammates at North Bergen High School and at Bloomfield College.
Patel brings a wealth of trail race experience to the Golden Falcons. He has placed in the top 10 in a marathon, a 40-miler, and a 50-miler. He recently completed the HURT 100, which is a 100-mile endurance race with 24,500 feet of elevation gain in Honolulu, Hawaii. For four years he has been a lead pacer for the New York Road Runners and the Mile High Run Club. He has also been the lead pacer for the New York City Marathon, Chicago Marathon, and New Jersey Marathon.
After a four-year collegiate cross-country career, Patel received a bachelor's degree in finance from Bloomfield in 2012. Since graduating from Bloomfield, he has worked in New York City and still competes to stay in shape. He has been a brand ambassador for Honey Stinger, CEP Compression, Camelback, and Only Atom. He resides in North Bergen.
