CANTON, Ohio – Malone University captured a 3-0 non-conference women's soccer victory over visiting Felician University on Saturday afternoon on the Malone campus. The game was the 2019 season opener for both schools.

Junior goalkeeper Jamie Kazenmayer (Mooresville, N.C.) kept Felician in contention with nine saves.

The Pioneers had the better of play early, and then gained a player advantage when Felician was issued a direct red card in the 20th minute. Nearly 10 minutes later, the hosts capitalized when Amanda Kinsey (Lebanon, Ohio) finished from close range. Malone piled up advantages of 10-1 in shots and 5-0 in corner kicks for the half but settled for the 1-0 lead at the break.

The Golden Falcon defense held steady, but the visitors could not break through on the scoreboard. Malone finally seized the result by tallying twice in the final 5:20 of action.

Danielle Lung (Hinckley, Ohio), who registered the Pioneers' final goal, led all players with five shot attempts to aid the hosts' 20-4 edge. Jenna Fischetto (Wallington, N.J.) took a team-high two shots for Felician.

Felician is idle until Sept. 18, when it travels to Trinity Washington University.
