RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician University has captured the 2017-18 East Coast Conference (ECC) Women's Bowling Academic Team of Excellence Award, the ECC recently announced.
Felician is an associate member of the ECC only for women's bowling. The conference sponsored the sport for its third year in 2017-18, and the Golden Falcons have won all three ECC Women's Bowling Academic Team of Excellence Awards.
The ECC Academic Team of Excellence Awards are presented to the teams with the highest cumulative grade-point average in their respective sport. Felician posted a cumulative GPA of 3.719 to take the women's bowling honor. That figure allowed the Golden Falcons to finish second in the country among NCAA women's bowling programs.
In March, the Golden Falcons tied for ninth place out of 10 teams in the third ECC Championship tournament. Guided by head coach Andrew Toriello, Felician completed its fourth season of intercollegiate competition with a 52-58 won-lost record, and was listed at No. 9 in the final National Tenpin Coaches Association Division II/III poll.
Molloy College topped the conference with seven teams honored. More information is available at www.eccsports.org/information/general-news/2017-18/071918_academicteamaward.
Felician is a member of NCAA Division II. Its other 13 varsity intercollegiate programs compete in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference.
