EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. -- East Stroudsburg University scored twice in a 30-second span of the 14th minute and went on to a 7-0 non-conference men's soccer victory over visiting Felician University on Wednesday afternoon at Eiler-Martin Stadium. East Stroudsburg (2-0-1) is ranked No. 7 in the most recent NCAA Division II Atlantic Region coaches' poll.
The Warriors broke through on the scoreboard with 13 minutes, 14 seconds gone by on a goal by Erik Cardoso (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil). Thirty ticks later, Javaughn Hussett (Whitehall, Pa.) found the back of the net, and the hosts carried the 2-0 edge into halftime.
ESU took full control when Anton Lysell (Gothenburg, Sweden) registered an unassisted tally in the 59th minute. The Warriors used 25 players in the contest, and leveraged their depth by scoring four goals during the match's final 10 minutes.
Felician (0-3) did not put a shot on goal, nor earn a corner kick. The Golden Falcons were out-shot, 23-4, overall for the day, with senior Chris McLaughlin (Hollis, N.Y.) getting off two of the four. Felician freshman goalkeer Alex Ficarra (Phillipsburg, N.J.) was credited with eight saves.
Bradley Turocy (Bethlehem, Pa.) scored twice and Lysell finished with a goal and two assists for ESU.
Felician travels to Shepherd University for a 1 p.m. kickoff on Saturday.
