LYNDHURST, N.J. – Felician University senior transfer Niko Iloski (Garfield, N.J./Garfield) scored twice and freshman Carlo Gonzalez (Pompton Lakes, N.J./Pompton Lakes) picked up his first collegiate goal, but the Golden Falcons settled for a 3-3 draw with visiting Queens (N.Y.) College in non-conference men's soccer action on a humid Labor Day evening at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex.

Queens (1-1-1) out-shot Felician, 25-15, including 9-2 in extra time. Sophomore goalkeeper Joe Sartori (Wood-Ridge, N.J./Wood-Ridge) was credited with six saves for the Golden Falcons.

Junior forward Romario Hulea (Halmstead, Sweden/San Jose State University) gave the Knights the lead in the seventh minute on a short finish from in front. But Iloski struck in both the 18th and 30th minutes, and the hosts carried the 2-1 edge into halftime.

Felician missed out on several opportunities to own a larger lead at intermission. Queens keeper Robert Retnauer (St. James, N.Y./Smithtown East) saved a Golden Falcon penalty kick in the 25th minute. Two  Felician shots in the half hit the crossbar, and another was cleared off the goal line by the Knights.

The Knights pulled even on the first shot for either team in the second period. Senior Saufyane Ilboudo (Burkina Faso/Municipal Venegre) one timed a high cross from teammate Adrian Garcia past Sartori. But 10 minutes of game time later, Gonzalez put the hosts back on top.

Gonzalez initially had an open opportunity saved by Retnauer. But Retnauer's punt caromed off a Queens player, and Gonzalez retrieved and had a clear path to the goal, this time finishing.

The game's final score came on a penalty kick by Queens senior Andras Breuer (Budapest, Hungary) with 17:53 left in regulation. A Felician defender was whistled for a handball on a ball served into the penalty area, creating the opportunity.

A quick reaction save by Sartori in the 103rd minute helped preserve the draw for Felician (0-2-1).

Retnauer stopped four shots in 92 minutes of relief work. Hulea led all players on the night with seven saves.

Felician begins Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play for 2018 by traveling to Goldey-Beacom College on Saturday for a 3:30 p.m. kickoff in Wilmington, Del. It will be the Golden Falcons' fifth match in 10 days to start the season.
