Basketball Coaches Promoted; Felician On The Move!

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Longtime Felician University athletics department administrators Steve Fagan of Howell and Ivan Lewis of Lodi have been promoted to the full-time coaching positions of head women's basketball coach and head men's basketball coach, respectively, Felician director of athletics Ben DiNallo Jr. announced today.

Fagan has spent the last eleven years as Felician's athletics internal operations coordinator and part-time head women's basketball coach. While overseeing the travel needs of all 14 of the Golden Falcons' varsity intercollegiate programs, he has amassed a program-record 109 coaching victories and made five Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) playoff appearances. Fagan was voted the 2011-12 CACC Coach of the Year.

Fagan has spent 17 years as a senior- or junior-college head coach and owns a combined won-lost record of 205-272. At Felician, he has coached eight all-conference and 23 academic all-conference student-athletes. He completed a B.A. degree in mass media/communications from Pace University in 1993.

Lewis, a 2004 cum laude graduate of Felician, returned to his alma mater as an assistant coach prior to the 2008-09 season. He has since filled several non-coaching roles in the athletics department. At the time of his promotion, he had been the coordinator of athletics facilities, staff advisor to the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and part-time head men's basketball coach for the last four years.

Lewis enters 2019-20 with a personal won-lost record of 46-62 and has led Felician to the last two CACC Tournaments. Last year, his Golden Falcons enjoyed the program's first winning season (14-13) since 2010-11. Lewis owns an A.A. degree in business administration from Tompkins-Cortland Community College (2002), a B.A. in marketing/management from Felician, and an M.S. in sports management from California (Pa.) University (2010).

"I'm excited to realize this important step in the growth of our athletics department and for each of our basketball programs," DiNallo said. "These two men are well-respected members of our University. I'm confident that their promotions will not only strongly benefit their programs' on-court success but will invigorate the teams and the student body. We are definitely a University on the move!"

Felician is a member of NCAA Division II. The Golden Falcons will begin their 24th year of varsity intercollegiate athletics in September.
