Felician's Jackson Named CACC Rookie Of The Week

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician University freshman Jay'von Jackson (Plainfield, N.J./St. Mary-Elizabeth) has been selected as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week for the period ending Jan. 6, the CACC announced today.

Jackson, a 6-foot-4, 210-pound guard/forward, set a Felician record with eight three-point field goals and tied a school freshman mark with 28 points in the Golden Falcons' Jan. 2 home CACC victory over Caldwell University. For the week, he shot 56 percent from the floor, including 8 for 13 from distance, and averaged 20.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists as Felician split a pair of league games.

Jackson has played in all 11 games for Felician this season, starting six. In 25.0 minutes per game, he is averaging 12.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.0 assists. He is a 2018 graduate of St. Mary of the Assumption High of Elizabeth.

Also on Monday, Felician women's basketball sophomore guard Bionca Chambers (Bronx, N.Y./New Milford [N.J.]) was named to that sport's CACC Weekly Honor Roll.

Felician men's basketball (3-8, 1-3 CACC) is guided by fourth-year head coach Ivan Lewis of Lodi. Jackson and the Golden Falcons are next in action on Tuesday, when they travel to Bronxville, N.Y., for a 5 p.m. CACC contest against Concordia (N.Y.) College.
