RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Felician University baseball team is No. 9 in the latest NCAA Division II Committee East region rankings, released on Wednesday. The Committee had ranked Felician No. 8 last week.

The NCAA Committee is responsible at season's end for choosing and seeding the 56 teams that will qualify for the NCAA Division II Baseball Championship, including 33 at-large entrants. Eight teams will be selected from the East Region. The Committee's rankings are unaffiliated with those of the National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Association, which on Monday dropped Felician from No. 7 to No. 8 in its East Region poll.
After concluding its regular season with two home wins over the University of the Sciences on Wednesday, Felician (30-20) owns a 30-15 record against fellow members of the East Region. The Golden Falcons are one of three CACC teams to appear in the NCAA ranking. Wilmington (Del.) University (34-16) is in the No. 3 spot, and Chestnut Hill College (27-21) has been ranked 10th.
Felician won its fourth consecutive CACC league or Division regular-season title, claiming this year's South Division crown with a 24-8 conference record.
Felician is batting .291 as a team, led by a .392 clip from senior second baseman Danny Healey Jr. (Brookhaven, Pa./Monsignor Bonner), who has a .529 on-base percentage. Senior shortstop L.T. Struble (Hammonton, N.J./Hammonton) is hitting .367 with four home runs and CACC highs of 58 runs scored and 42 stolen bases, and sophomore outfielder/first baseman Anthony Condito (Nutley, N.J./Nutley) is at .335 with three homers and 42 RBI.
Junior right-hander Alex Schwartz (Voorhees, N.J./Eastern Regional) paces the Golden Falcon pitching staff with an 8-1 record, a 2.70 earned-run average and 50 strikeouts. Sophomore righty Michael Gutierrez (Garfield, N.J./Garfield) is 5-4 with a 3.35 ERA and a conference-high 83 strikeouts. Sophomore righty Nick Nardulli (Staten Island, N.Y./Tottenville) (2-2, 2.81) is the national D-II co-leader with a school-record 13 saves.
There are 34 baseball-playing schools in the region.
Felician, guided by 16th-year head coach Chris Langan, hosts North Division No. 4 seed Bloomfield College in a CACC Tournament play-in game on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex. Admission will be charged of $8 for adults and $4 for children, students and senior citizens and is payable via CASH ONLY.
