RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician University freshman Shayla Morales (North Bergen, N.J./North Bergen) has been chosen as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Cross-Country Rookie of the Week for the period ending Sept. 9, the CACC announced on Tuesday.
Morales placed fourth out of 112 female entrants at the 38th Annual Philadelphia Metropolitan Championship, hosted by the Jefferson Rams on Saturday at Belmont Plateau. She was the top freshman finisher in the race as well as Felician's frontrunner. Morales completed 5,000 meters in 21 minutes, five seconds.

Also on Monday, Felician sophomore Jillian O'Brien (Bogota, N.J./Bogota) was selected to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll.
Felician is guided by first-year head coach Elson Smajlaj of North Bergen. Morales, O'Brien and the Golden Falcons are next in action on Friday, September 21, when they travel to Wilmington, Del., for the Goldey-Beacom College Fall Classic.
