RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Junior-college student Kelly Murphy (Cinnaminson, N.J./Cinnaminson) will transfer to Felician University, and signed a national letter of intent to run cross-country for the Golden Falcons during the recently-concluded NCAA early-signing period, Felician head cross-country and track & field coach Rob DeCarlo Jr. announced today. Murphy also intends to join Felician's women's outdoor track & field team.
The 5-foot-6 Murphy attends and participates in both sports at Rowan College at Gloucester County. As a freshman, she was an NJCAA All-American in the pole vault. She recently assisted the Roadrunner cross-country squad to a second-place finish regionally and an appearance at the NJCAA national meet.
Murphy expects an associate degree from RCGC in spring 2016. She will enroll at Felician in fall 2016 with two years of NCAA eligibility, and intends to major in mathematics education. Murphy is a 2014 graduate of Cinnaminson High, where she helped the track & field team to a pair of division championships.
"Kelly brings versatility, experience, and enthusiasm to our program," DeCarlo said. "She will be an immediate contributor to both our cross-country and track & field programs. She comes highly-recommended by her coaches, and we are very excited to have her."
Felician is a member of NCAA Division II and competes in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference. The 2015 Golden Falcon women's cross-country squad finished 11th in the CACC Championship and 26th in the Division II East Regional meet.
