RUTHERFORD, N.J. – P.J. Ernst of Cranford and Alexa Scrivanich of Paramus have been named assistant women's volleyball coaches at Felician College, Golden Falcon head coach John Chang announced today.
Ernst comes to Felician after two years as a women's assistant at Union County College. In 2013, he helped lead the Owls to a 13-4 record and the Garden State Conference championship. He also spent one season as the freshman girls' coach at Roselle Catholic High School.
Ernst coaches U-15 girls for the Conquest Elite Volleyball Club in Cranford, and is the assistant boys' coach under Chang at Golda Och Academy of West Orange. Chang and Ernst led GOA to a Super Essex Conference division title in 2014.
A 2008 graduate of Cranford High, Ernst played basketball and golf at UCC before earning an AA in sports management in 2011. He is pursuing a bachelor's degree in business management from Kean University, and is an active volleyball player in several local clubs.
Scrivanich joins the Felician staff directly off of a successfully playing career with the Golden Falcons. A four-year starter at middle blocker, she ranks third all-time at Felician with 131 blocks and sixth in career kills with 411. She was the only senior on the 2013 Felician squad that reached the CACC playoffs for the first time in six years.
Scrivanich began her coaching career in spring 2014, leading the U-15 girls for the SideOut Sports club. She expects a BA in history from Felician in May 2015.
"I'm very excited to be working with both P.J. and Alexa," said Chang, who was hired as Felician's fourth head volleyball coach in July. "I've already learned so much about them in the past several weeks, and I'm confident that with them on staff, our program is headed in a positive direction. I'm looking forward to the season."
Felician competes as an NCAA Division II member of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC). The Golden Falcons reached the CACC quarterfinals in 2013.
