RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College sophomore Olivia Emerson (Sparks, Nev./Edward C. Reed) has been named to the 2013 All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women's Volleyball Second Team. The conference's award winners were voted on by its 14 head coaches and announced today.
Emerson, a 5-foot-11 outside hitter, is just the second all-conference honoree in the 10-year history of the Felician volleyball program. Setter Nicole Degenhardt was a Second-Team selection in 2007.
Emerson has played in all 24 matches and all 94 sets for the Golden Falcons in 2013. She leads the team with a .209 attack percentage, and ranks second in the CACC and 34th nationally in NCAA Division II with 3.72 kills per set. She is also averaging 1.93 digs and 0.26 blocks.
Emerson has six matches with 20 or more kills this season, and has amassed six double-doubles. On Sept. 25, she set a Felician record with 29 kills in a five-set road victory over Concordia (N.Y.) College. Twice in 2013, she was selected as the CACC Player of the Week.
A two-year starter, Emerson is already among the Golden Falcons' top five in career kills with 456.
Emerson is a 2012 graduate of Truckee Meadows Community College High School, but played volleyball scholastically for Edward C. Reed High.
The Golden Falcons (6-18, 6-13 CACC) are the CACC North's No. 4 seed for this week's conference playoffs. They travel to South No. 1 seed Wilmington (Del.) University tonight for first-round tournament action.
Felician has now had four student-athletes earn all-conference honors this academic year.
