RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The three seniors on the 2018 Felician University women's outdoor track & field team – Heather Androvich (Carteret, N.J./Carteret), Kristen Keller (Reading, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) and Kelly Murphy (Cinnaminson, N.J./Cinnamonson) -- have all been named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Spring 2018 All-Academic Team, the CACC announced on Wednesday. Androvich and Keller earn the honor for the second time in their careers in track & field, while Murphy is a first-time winner.
In order to be named to the CACC All-Academic Team, recipients must have used a season of eligibility while participating in a CACC spring championship sport, be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, be a second-year student-athlete at their current school, and have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or higher at the end of the immediate preceding term.
Felician sponsors varsity intercollegiate track & field only for women and only during the outdoor (spring) season. 2018 was the fourth season in program history.
Androvich and Keller are both walk-on throwers, having come to Felician as scholarship members of the women's bowling program. Androvich produced personal bests of 22.80 meters (74 feet, 10 inches) in the javelin at The College of New Jersey on April 29, 2017 and 8.64 meters (28-4.25) in the shot put this April 14 at Stockton University. She placed 14th in javelin and 21st in shot put in the 2018 CACC Championship meet. Androvich owned a 3.54 GPA through the award period while majoring in nursing. She is a 2014 graduate of Carteret High.
Keller was most comfortable in the discus. She concluded her career with a personal-best toss of 30.48 meters (100-0) at the Georgian Court University Last Chance Meet on May 11. Five days earlier, she finished 11th in the discus, plus 13th in javelin and 17th in shot put, at the CACC Championships. She maintained a GPA of 3.87 through the fall 2017 semester and majored in communications. Keller is a 2014 product of Schuylkill Valley High of Leesport, Pa.
Keller was a CACC All-Academic Honoree in women's volleyball in 2015. Androvich and Keller are also both two-time members of the East Coast Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll for women's bowling.
Murphy receives the award in her first season of eligibility after transferring from Rowan College at Gloucester County. She was also so honored by the CACC in cross-country last fall. She ran middle distance events during most of the track & field season, completing her career with a personal-best 3:10.76 in the 800-meter run at the GCU Last Chance meet. At the CACC meet, she competed in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and finished seventh. Murphy carried a 3.96 GPA through the award period as a mathematics education major.
Conference-wide, Androvich, Keller and Murphy were three of 33 student-athletes to be honored in women's track & field from the 11 member schools that sponsor the sport.
Felician completes the 2017-18 season with 27 CACC All-Academic honorees.
