WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – In her collegiate debut, freshman Monika Dlugosz (Clifton, N.J./Clifton) set the Felician University shot put record, highlighting the Golden Falcons' trip to the Monmouth University Season Opener on Saturday.
Dlugosz recorded a toss of 11.04 meters, the equivalent of 36 feet, 2 ¾ inches. She finished 14th out of 31 entrants in the event. Dlugosz easily surpassed the previous Felician shot put standard, 8.03 meters by Remi Iwelu last season.
The meet, which began the third season of varsity intercollegiate outdoor competition for Felician, was only scored on a team basis for Division-I schools. The host Hawks easily defeated a field of eight opponents on both the men's and women's sides.
The only other Golden Falcon participant to post a time or mark was senior Sabrina Roldan (Woodbridge, N.J./Woodbridge), who was 16th in the 3,000-meter run (11:48.71).
Felician expects to send its full team to the Roadrunner Invitational on Mar. 31-Apr. 1 at Ramapo College.
