Felician To Compete In Sunday's CACC Women's Track & Field Championship

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Felician College women's track & field team will compete in the 2016 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Outdoor Championship meet on Sunday, May 1. The event will be hosted by Georgian Court University on its Lakewood, N.J., campus. The meet will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the shot put; track events will commence at 10 a.m.

Felician will be looking to improve on last year's tie for seventh place. The Golden Falcons, a second-year varsity intercollegiate program, are led by first-year head coach Rob DeCarlo Jr.

The top two finishers in each event will be named All-CACC. Directions to Georgian Court are available at http://www.gculions.com/sports/2009/8/28/gcudirections.aspx. The CACC also plans to offer free live streaming video through CollegeTV Ticket at http://tinyurl.com/jbswk78.

"We've been training and peaking for this meet," DeCarlo said. "Our goal is simply to have our best performance of the year. We're looking for as many personal records and school records as possible."

Felician's strength appears to be in the distance events. Fifth-year senior Sylvia Bialy (Lodi, N.J./Lodi) is entered in the 10,000 meter run, while fellow cross-country stalwarts Sabrina Roldan (Woodbridge, N.J./Woodbridge) (5000m, 1500m) and Kate Rohsler (Fredon, N.J./Kittatinny Regional) (1500m, 800m) are scheduled to complete in multiple races. Rohsler was the CACC Women's Track Athlete of the Week for Apr. 4.

The Golden Falcons' most consistent performer in field events this season has been long-jumper and triple-jumper Success Edioma (Newark, N.J./East Side). Felician also expects a potential boost from scholarship soccer player Amanda Nowak (Lyndhurst, N.J./Lyndhurst), a multi-event performer who will be the program's first hurdler.

"We've entered as many events as possible," DeCarlo said. "Our returning athletes have improved tremendously. On paper, we have the potential to make a nice move up the standings."

The CACC Women's Track & Field Championship is in its third season. Georgian Court is the two-time defending champion. Results of the 2015 meet can be viewed at http://caccathletics.org/sports/track/2014-15/releases/5_3_2015_CACC_Conference_Championships_Final_Results.htm.
