KINGS POINT, N.Y. – Junior Success Edioma (Newark, N.J./East Side) and sophomore Giorvania LeRouge (Elizabeth, N.J./Elizabeth) each set Felician University women's track & field records, highlighting the Golden Falcons' trip to the Coach Omeltchenko Invitational, hosted by the United States Merchant Marine Academy on Sunday afternooon.
The meet, which contained 29 women's teams from all three NCAA divisions and the NJCAA, was not scored on a team basis.
Edioma and LeRouge eclipsed their own school standards. Edioma finished 11th out of 21 competitors in the long jump, with a leap of 4.44 meters. She had established the previous mark of 3.77 meters on April 1 at Rowan University. On Sunday, she was also fifth out of 11 in the triple jump (9.49m).
LeRouge placed 26th of 39 entrants in the 200 meter dash, clocking a time of 29.82 seconds. She broke her own Golden Falcon record of 32.67 seconds from Mar. 26 at Monmouth. LeRouge also became the first athlete in the two-year history of the Felician program to participate in the 400-meter run. She placed 21st out of 30 with a time of 1:10.32.
Edioma and LeRouge are both in their first year of collegiate track & field.
Junior Kate Rohsler (Fredon, N.J./Kittatinny Regional) paced Felician in the middle distance events. She ran in 11th place out of 39 entries in the 1,500 meters with a personal-best time of 5:17.39. Rohsler also led the Golden Falcon contingent and was 28th overall out of 63 runners in the 800 meters, recording a time of 2:37.77.
Felician junior Mike Secreti (Paramus, N.J./Paramus), participating as an individual, won the men's 5,000-meter race. He bested a field of 20 competitors with a time of 15:48.48.
