RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College junior women's soccer student-athlete Macki Groves (Millville, N.J./Millville) capped a standout junior season by earning a pair of awards on Monday. Groves was chosen for the NCAA Division II Capital One Academic All-America® Third Team, then made program history with her election to the Daktronics/D-II Conference Commissioners Association All-East Region Second Team.

Groves is the eighth Felician student-athlete, and third women's soccer player, to be named an Academic All-American in the 19-year history of the College's athletics program. A complete list of Felician's Academic All-Americans and Academic All-District honorees can be viewed at

Groves, a biology major in Felician's pre-physician assistant program, carries a cumulative grade-point average of 3.95. She finished second in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference in goals (13) and points (27) in 2014.

Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America® honors on more than 19,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports. The entire set of 2014 Capital One Academic All-America® Division II Women's & Men's Soccer Teams can be viewed at

Groves becomes the first Felician women's student-athlete to be named all-region since the Golden Falcons joined the NCAA in 2002. The members of the all-region teams are listed below.

In 2014, Groves helped lead Felician (11-5-3, 7-3-2 CACC) to the CACC semifinals for the first time since 2003. The CACC Student-Athlete of the Month for October, she had four game-winning goals this season, and highlighted her campaign with a four-goal effort in a 5-1 home victory over Bloomfield College on Oct. 21. She was a first-team All-CACC selection

"I am extremely humbled by and grateful for my accomplishments this season," Groves said. "The dedication and support of my teammates and coaches have made me both a better student and a better athlete."

Groves owns career totals of 22 goals and one assist, and ranks eighth on Felician's all-time goal-scoring list. She is a 2012 graduate of Millville High.

The NCAA Division II East Region consists of the CACC, East Coast Conference, and Northeast-10 Conference.
