RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College junior Macki Groves (Millville, N.J./Millville) has been named to the 2014 All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women's Soccer First Team. Felician sophomore Carly Brantner (Shrewsbury, N.J./Eastern Christian) and freshman Katina Kozlowski (Milton, N.Y./Our Lady of Lourdes) were elected as Second-Team All-CACC selections.
The conference's award winners, which were voted on by its 14 head coaches, were announced on Monday. They will be presented Wednesday night at the CACC Awards Banquet in Prospect, Conn.
All three players are all-conference selections for the first time. Groves, a 5-foot-4 forward, is Felician's first First-Team honoree in women's soccer since 2008. In 18 games, she has recorded 13 goals and one assist, ranking second in the CACC in both goals and points.
Groves has four game-winning goals this season. She highlighted her campaign with a four-goal effort in a 5-1 home victory over Bloomfield College on Oct. 21. She was named the CACC Player of the Week on two occasions, and last week was voted onto the CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District Team. Groves is a 2012 graduate of Millville High.
Brantner is a 5-foot-4 defender who is originally from Waldwick. She has seen time at both center back and outside back this season, recording three assists in 18 starts. She was twice chosen to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll. Brantner is a 2013 graduate of Eastern Christian High of North Haledon.
Kozlowski, a 5-foot-4 forward, has played in all 18 Golden Falcon games with 14 starts. She is second on the team and tied for 15th in the CACC with 14 points (5 goals, 4 assists), and has three game-winning goals. She scored Felician's second goal on Monday in a 2-0 conference quarterfinal win at Caldwell University. Kozlowski is a 2014 graduate of Our Lady of Lourdes High of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
Felician finished fifth in the CACC regular seasons standings. The Golden Falcons take an overall won-lost-tied record of 11-4-3 into Thursday's conference semifinal match against top seed Philadelphia University in Waterbury, Conn.
Felician has now had six student-athletes earn all-conference honors this academic year.
