RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College sophomore Julia Sheridan (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J./Community) has been chosen as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the period ending Sept. 8, the CACC announced on Monday. Sheridan is the first CACC women's soccer student-athlete to ever win the honor, which was instituted this summer.
Sheridan, a 5-foot-5 goalkeeper, had a busy weekend as Felician opened its season by splitting two road games. In a 4-0 loss at the No. 4 nationally-ranked College of Saint Rose on Saturday, followed by a 1-0 victory at Stonehill College on Sunday, she combined to face 51 shots and 17 corner kicks. She made 15 saves for the weekend and help the Golden Falcons successfully defend 16 of the 17 corners.
Sheridan stopped a career-high 11 shots in shutting out Stonehill on Sunday, helping Felician emerge victorious despite a 28-9 disadvantage in shot attempts. It was the third solo shutout of her collegiate career.
Sheridan is a 2012 graduate of Community High of Teaneck. While attending Community, she participated in scholastic athletics with Hasbrouck Heights High.
