RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College freshman Macki Groves (Millville, N.J./Millville) has been chosen as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week, the CACC announced today. Groves was honored as part of the first set of conference weekly awards of the fall 2012 season.
Groves, a 5-foot-4 midfielder, scored Felician's first goal of the year on Saturday. She found the back of the net in the 28th minute of the Golden Falcons' 2-1 season-opening non-conference road victory over Assumption College in Worcester, Mass.
Groves is a 2012 graduate of Millville High, where she was a two-time all-conference selection in both soccer and lacrosse.
Also on Tuesday, Felician senior goalkeeper Allie Couzo (Sayreville, N.J./Sayreville War Memorial) was named to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll after facing 25 shots and making 12 saves in the win at Assumption. Felician (1-0, 0-0 CACC), a member of NCAA Division II, plays its home and conference opener on Thursday at 4 p.m. against Concordia (N.Y.) College at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex.
