Women's Soccer Makes School History With Regional Rank

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Felician College women's soccer team made school history on Tuesday when it received a regional ranking from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Felician (7-2, 6-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference) is tied for the No. 9 spot in the NCAA Division II East Region.

The Felician athletics program reclassified to NCAA division II from the NAIA in the fall of 2002. Since that time, no Golden Falcon women's sport had received a regional ranking from any organization at any time until the NSCAA acknowledged the soccer program on Tuesday.

Guided by fourth-year head coach Thomas Notte, Felician is off to its best start since 2001. It has won four consecutive matches heading into Wednesday evening's non-conference home tilt against St. Thomas Aquinas College. The Golden Falcons sit in second-place in the 13-team CACC with five league matches remaining.

Felician is led offensively by senior forward Stephanie Jimenez (Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) and sophomore midfielder Alysia Arcona (Hackettstown, NJ/Hackettstown) (two goals, seven assists). Junior goalkeeper Allie Couzo (Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville War Memorial) is second in the CACC with a 1.33 goals-against average.
