RUTHERFORD, N.J. – For the second consecutive year, the Felician University women's bowling team has placed 11 of its members on the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) All-Academic Team. The 2017-18 version of the squad was released by the NTCA on Monday.
In order to be named Academic All-NTCA, recipients must have used a season of competition on an NCAA-sponsored women's bowling team, and earned a grade-point average of 3.20 or above for the 2017-18 academic year.
Felician's 11 winners tied for second-most in the country, and led the East Coast Conference (ECC). No. 21 nationally-ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater topped the NCAA with 13 honorees, and No. 11 Sacred Heart University also saw 11 bowlers recognized in the program.
Teamwise, the Golden Falcons, a fourth-year program guided by coach Andrew Toriello, finished second nationally with a GPA for the academic year of 3.719. On the lanes, Felician went 52-58 overall and tied for ninth place in the ECC Championship tournament.
In all, 268 student-athletes were recognized by the NTCA All-Academic program, representing 55 schools. Both totals are records for the award, which was instituted in 2006. Felician's recipients are listed below with GPA and major course of study.
