Felician Women's Bowling Tops Nation In Team GPA

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The 2016-17 Felician University women's bowling team led the country among NCAA programs in grade-point average, according to data recently released by the National Tenpin Coaches Assocation (NTCA).

After finishing second in the nation in each of the last two seasons, the 11-member Felician squad ascended to the top spot by putting together a team GPA of 3.74 for the 2016-16 academic year. A list of team members can be viewed at http://felicianathletics.com/sports/wbowl/2016-17/roster.

"Our team members have shown to have excellent time management skills," said Felician third-year head coach Andrew Toriello. "They successfully balance schoolwork and bowling while maintaining a meaningful personal life. Our upperclasswomen have been both tutors and solid role models for our younger bowlers."

Fellow East Coast Conference (ECC) member LIU Post was the national runner-up with a 3.69 figure, while last year's national leader, LIU Brooklyn, was third with a team GPA of 3.65.

Felician completed its third season of competition in 2016-17 with an overall won-lost record of 59-41. The Golden Falcons finished third in the ECC Championship tournament, for the second consecutive year.

In all, the NTCA recognized 36 teams which put together verified cumulative GPAs of 3.20 or higher for the recently-completed academic year. They are listed below.
