Chambers Named All-CACC In Women's Basketball

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician University sophomore Bionca Chambers (Bronx, N.Y./New Milford [N.J.]) has been named to the 2019 All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Basketball Third Team. The conference's award winners were voted on by its 14 head coaches and announced on Tuesday.

Chambers, a 5-foot-7 guard, is an all-CACC honoree for the first time. She is Felician's first all-conference women's basketball player in five years. Trina Plummer earned the final of her three selections by making the Second Team following the 2013-14 campaign.

Chambers played in 26 games for the Golden Falcons this season, starting 20. She averaged 13.8 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.5 assists. Her 2.7 steals per game rank second in the CACC, and her 1.0 block average is sixth.

"This is a well-deserved honor," said 11th-year Felician head coach Steve Fagan. "Bionca's 1-on-1 ability is as good as anyone in our conference. And while her offense gets a lot of her attention, her defense also made a huge impact for us."

Chambers scored 30 more points three times, the most by a Felician female in 16 years. She also had a nine-steal game and an eight-steal game. Her 21.3 points per 40 minutes are fifth in the CACC.

Chambers is a 2017 graduate of New Milford (N.J.) High School.

The Golden Falcons (9-18, 9-10 CACC) were the CACC North Division's No. 4 seed for this week's conference playoffs. They were eliminated in Tuesday's quarterfinals by the South No. 1 seed University of the Sciences.

Felician now has had six student-athletes earn all-conference honors this academic year.
