BLOOMFIELD, N.J. – Senior Kayla Diaz (Clifton, N.J.) matched a career high with 20 points and classmate Kameron Stone (Bronx, N.Y.) totaled 18 points and 12 rebounds to lead Felician University to a 71-62 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's basketball victory over host Bloomfield College on Tuesday evening at the Bloomfield College Gymnasium.

Felician (7-11, 7-4 CACC) swept its two-game regular-season series from Bloomfield for the first time since the 2011-12 season. The Golden Falcons also moved into a first-place tie with Dominican (N.Y.) College in the CACC North Division. Both Felician and the Chargers have eight league games remaining, including a date with each other on Feb. 27 in Orangeburg, N.Y.

Both sides struggled offensively during Tuesday's first half. Felician emerged from the first quarter with an 8-7 edge. By halftime, it was the Bears who had pulled ahead by a point, 22-21. The teams each shot under 25 percent from the floor for the opening 20 minutes.

Within the first two minutes of period three, Bloomfield (5-16, 4-8) had fashioned a 9-0 run, with a three-point field goal by Caitlin Townes (Newark, N.J.) creating a 31-21 edge for the hosts. The Golden Falcons had a response, however, outscoring the Bears, 22-4, over the next seven-plus minutes. A Diaz three-pointer with 3:25 left in the quarter gave Felician the lead it would never relinquish, 37-35. The visitors led by as many as eight in the period before settling for a 46-40 spread at the buzzer.

Felician junior Taliyah Brisco (Cambria Heights, N.Y.) began the fourth quarter with a traditional three-point play for a nine-point edge. But the Golden Falcons had trouble pulling away from their hosts. A Townes layup with 5:57 to play pulled Bloomfield to within 52-50, and a bucket by Siani Smith (Burlington, N.J.) at the 3:23 mark made it 57-56.

Bionca Chambers (Bronx, N.Y.) set up Stone for a layup, then made a steal, which Felican turned into another Stone basket out of a timeout to move ahead, 61-56. The Bears answered with a layup and free throw by Smith at 2:05, but on the Golden Falcons' next possession, Chambers drained a three-pointer that proved to be the clincher.

Felician scored 50 second-half points, shooting 58 percent after the break. The Golden Falcons survived a 13 for 29 night at the foul line, in part by holding Bloomfield to 32-percent shooting.

Chambers finished with 11 points, five rebounds and five steals and Kristin Smith (Hainesport, N.J.) added nine points and 10 rebounds for Felician. Golden Falcon sophomore Nicole Pimentel (Newark, N.J.) matched a career high with nine rebounds, and Brisco amassed eight points and four assists.

Townes led the Bears with 22 points and six assists

Felician plays a make-up game on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in Rutherford against Holy Family University.
