Felician Duo Chosen For NFCA All-Region First Team

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician University senior Steph Donah (Clark, N.J./Arthur L. Johnson) and junior Nicole Spiegelberg (Blauvelt, N.Y./Tappan Zee) have been named to the 2019 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division II All-East Region First Team, the NFCA announced last Thursday. NFCA member coaches from the East Region voted on the award winners.

Donah becomes just Felician's third all-region honoree in the 23-year history of its program. Spiegelberg, meanwhile, is the first Golden Falcon softball player to ever earn all-region honors twice. She was chosen by the Conference Commissioners' Association, whose program is administered by the region's sports information directors, at designated player as a freshman in 2017 before being recognized as a first baseman this season.

The results of the 2019 NFCA balloting also mark the first time Felician can claim two all-region softball players in the same year.

Donah, a 5-foot-9 center fielder, started all 45 games for Felician and had a .415 batting average, currently fifth in the East Region. Her 61 hits include 10 doubles, six triples (T-third in region), and three home runs, and she scored 31 runs while driving in 33. She tied a Golden Falcon record with a 16-game hitting streak and collected 14 outfield assists.

Donah was recently named the 2018-19 Felician Female Senior Student-Athlete of the Year. She is the all-time leader for the Golden Falcon softball program in games played with 181 and is in the top five in several career offensive categories, including fourth with 172 hits. She is a 2015 graduate of Arthur L. Johnson High of Clark.

In 45 starts this season, the 5-foot-7 Spiegelberg batted .395 (10th in the region) and slugged .653 (fifth) with a .500 on-base percentage (T-third). She produced 11 doubles, seven home runs, 23 runs, and 39 RBI.

In just three seasons, Spiegelberg has assaulted the Felician record books. She is already tied for the career home run lead (29), second in RBI (109), tied for eighth in hits (141) and the all-time walks leader (63). She is a 2016 graduate of Tappan Zee High.

Felician completed 2019 with a won-lost record of 15-30. The Golden Falcons finished in ninth place in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference with an 11-15 league mark, missing the league playoffs by one game.

First baseman Ciera Clark was Felician's first all-region softball player in 2014. She remains the only Golden Falcon to be voted to both recognized all-region squads in the same season, earning Second Team accolades from both the SIDs (whose team was then sponsored by Daktronics) and the NFCA.

In all, 209 student-athletes from 118 institutions were elected to an NFCA All-Region First or Second Team in one of the eight NCAA Division II regions.
