NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Felician University softball standout Jeannette Roldan (Hesperia, Calif./Oak Hills) on Friday was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Student-Athlete of the Month for April 2018, as announced by Commissioner Dan Mara. Roldan earned the honor for achieving athletic honors during the month, while also combining that with academic success and community engagement activities.

On the diamond, Roldan was named to the All-CACC Second Team as an outfielder in late April, while helping to guide the Golden Falcons to a berth in the CACC Championship Tournament. In 21 April games, Roldan hit .378 (28-for-74) with four doubles, two triples, a home run, 18 runs scored and nine driven in. As the team's leadoff hitter, she added six walks and a .432 on-base percentage, while slugging .527. Felician went 12-10 in CACC play.

A senior, Roldan will graduate as Felician's all-time hits leader (187), while also ranking second for career runs (102) and doubles (37). She is also tied for first in program history for doubles (16) in a single season.

A business administration major, Roldan sports a cumulative grade point average of 3.50. She won the Arthur Ashe Sports Scholar Award in both 2017 and 2018, while also being a 2018 inductee into the Chi Alpha Sigma College Athlete Honor Society.

Roldan has also been active in the surrounding community. During the summer months the past several years, she helps run softball clinics for girls (ages 8-16) in her hometown of Hesperia, Calif. The clinics, sponsored by Hesperia High School, teach softball fundamentals, but also counsel attendees about the importance of academics. Roldan has also volunteered as a babysitter at Chuch ALIVE in Rutherford, N.J.

The Student-Athlete of the Month Award is announced by the CACC each month from September through May to mirror the academic calendar. Honorees must demonstrate all three components of athletics, academics and community engagement.
