RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician University freshman Nicole Spiegelberg (Blauvelt, N.Y./Tappan Zee) has been named to the 2017 Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) All-East Region Softball First Team, as voted by the region's sports information directors and released today.
Spiegelberg is the second Felician softball player to be elected All-Region in the 21-year history of the program. She is the first, however, to make the First Team; as such, she will represent Felician on the D2CAA All-America ballot.
Spiegelberg, a 5-foot-6 designated player, has been elected to the all-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) first team. In 49 games, she batted .370 with seven doubles, eight home runs, 26 runs scored and 31 runs batted in. She added 21 walks and 11 hit batsmen for a .485 on-base percentage.
Spiegelberg ranked third in the CACC in on base percentage, sixth in slugging percentage (.594), eighth in batting average, and tied for fifth in home runs. She won or shared the conference Rookie of the Week award four times. She is a 2016 graduate of Tappan Zee High of Orangeburg, N.Y.
Felician completed 2017 with a won-lost record of 22-27. The Golden Falcons earned their most victories in 10 years, and qualified for their third consecutive CACC Tournament.
The NCAA Divsision II East Region is comprised of all members of the CACC, East Coast Conference and Northeast 10 Conference; 36 schools are encompassed.
Spiegelberg is the first Felician student-athlete to earn all-region honors in 2016-17.
