Brackett Named CACC Rookie Of The Week

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician University freshman Zeaenna Brackett (Woodbury, N.J./Woodbury) has been chosen as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Softball Rookie of the Week for the period ending Mar. 6, the CACC announced on Monday. Brackett earned the award for the second time this season.

Brackett, a 5-foot-6 shortstop and Felician's leadoff hitter, batted .455 and slugged .773 during a 2-4 week for the Golden Falcons. She scored six runs, drove in three, stole two bases, and had four extra-base hits on the week, including her first career home run.

Brackett tops Felician and is third in the CACC with a .478 batting average on the season. She leads the conference in stolen bases (7) and is tied for the RBI lead with 10. She also was named CACC Rookie of the Week on Feb. 22. Brackett is a 2015 graduate of Woodbury High.

Also on Monday, Felician baseball senior pitcher John Holland (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Liberty) and junior catcher Matt Kleinstein (Marlboro, N.J./Colts Neck) were named to that sport's CACC Weekly Honor Roll.

Felician softball is guided by third-year head coach Chris Foye of Verona. Brackett and the Golden Falcons (6-8, 0-0 CACC) are next in action on Wednesday, when they play single non-conference games against California (Pa.) University and LIU Post to conclude their 10-game trip to Clermont, Fla.
