Alexis Durando Named Softball Assistant At Felician

RUTHERFORD, N.J.Alexis Durando of Hoboken has been named an assistant softball coach at Felician University, Felician head coach Chris Foye announced today. Durando enters her first collegiate coaching position.

Durando was a four-year member of the softball team at Division-I Rutgers University. As a senior in 2014, she voted as the all-American Athletic Conference Second Team first-baseman and to the all-AAC Tournament team. She was a four-time member of the Big East Conference/AAC All-Academic Team.

Durando earned a BS in exercise science and sport studies from Rutgers in 2014. That summer and fall, she served as an 18U assistant coach with the NJ Heist program.

"I am extremely excited to add Alexis to our coaching staff," Foye said. "As an all-state player at Immaculate Heart Academy and an all-conference performer at Rutgers, her athletic resume speaks for itself. Alexis also played for and coached with the NJ Heist, one of the best travel organizations in the country. She has a vast knowledge of the game in all aspects, and will bring a lot of energy and enthusiasm to our young team."

While attending Rutgers, Durando was an intern in the athletics marketing department. She is a sales representative for Stan's Sports Center in Hoboken.

Felician is a member of NCAA Division II. It is coming off a sixth-place finish in the 14-team Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference and its first trip to the CACC playoffs since 2012. The 2016 Golden Falcons open their season with a six-game trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C., from Feb. 18-21.
