Felician Softball Again Claims Nine NFCA Scholars

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Nine members of the 2014 Felician College softball team have been honored as National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America Scholar Athletes. The nine winners equal the school record for this honor set by the 2012 Golden Falcons and matched last season.

The All-America Scholar-Athlete Award is given to players for any NFCA-member coach who post a 3.50 or better grade-point average for the academic year which includes that spring's playing season. More than 4,000 student-athletes nationwide will be honored at the NCAA, NAIA, junior-college and high-school levels.

Felician's honorees for 2013-14 are listed in the table below.

Felician was also named as a 2013-14 NFCA All-Academic Team. The Golden Falcons combined to post a team GPA of 3.33 for the 2013-14 academic year, ranking them 39th nationally among NCAA Division II institutions and second among the 14 members of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference.

"It's a pleasure to coach a group of young ladies that have their priorities in order," said Felician coach Chris Foye, who is entering his second season in Rutherford. "These nine honorees receive tremendous help and support from their teammates, and it's a credit to the entire program that we matched our school record."

Felician opens the 2015 softball campaign with a 12-game trip to Clermont, Fla., from Feb. 26-Mar. 6.
