RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College junior Ciera Clark (Granite Bay, Calif./Del Oro) has been chosen as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Softball Co-Player of the Week for the period ending Mar. 23, the CACC announced on Monday.
Clark wins the award for the second time this season. Prior to her, it had been nearly four years since a Golden Falcon was named CACC Softball Player of the Week. Lauren DeGrushe was so honored on Apr. 26, 2010.
Clark, a 5-foot-8 first-baseman, played in three games during a 2-2 week for Felician. She went 5 for 8 with two doubles, two home runs, and six runs batted in. She slugged 1.625 for the week with an on-base percentage of .727. She picked up the second multi-homer game of her career during a Game 2 loss at Philadelphia University on Mar. 23.
On the season, Clark has started 15 contests. She leads the CACC with five home runs, and is second in batting (.511) and RBI (19) while also scoring 14 runs. She is a 2011 graduate of Del Oro High of Loomis, Calif.
Clark shared this week's award with junior catcher Alyssa Calderon of Caldwell College. More information is available at http://www.caccathletics.org/sports/sball/2013-14/releases/20140324-Softball-report.pdf.
Also on Monday, Felician senior catcher Jay Collazo (Wall, N.J./Manasquan) and junior pitcher Jack Fowler (Shrewsbury, N.J./Red Bank Regional) were named to the CACC Baseball Weekly Honor Roll.
The Felician softball team (6-11, 0-4 CACC) is guided by first-year head coach Chris Foye of Verona. The Golden Falcons are next scheduled to compete on Thursday, when they host a non-conference doubleheader in Lyndhurst against Lincoln (Pa.) University.
