RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College sophomore Taylor Parker (Surrey, British Columbia/Semiahmoo Secondary) has been voted to the Capital One Academic All-District Softball First Team for District I in NCAA Division II, as coordinated and selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). It is Parker's second postseason award earned this week.
Parker, as a First Team selection, will move on to represent Felician on the Division II Capital One Academic All-America® ballot. She is the second Golden Falcon softball player to be named CoSIDA Academic All-District. Teammate Kelsi Ludwigsen was so honored in 2012.
A list of all Felician student-athletes to win CoSIDA Academic-All-District accolades can be viewed at http://www.felicianathletics.com/information/Ac-A-A.
In 2013, Parker, a 5-foot-8 left-handed hitting third-baseman, started all 44 games for Felician (15-29 overall, 9-17 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference). She broke four offensive single season school records – batting average (.444), on-base percentage (.486), hits (59) and doubles (16). Her average and OBP both currently rank third in the CACC.
Earlier this week, Parker was named to the All-CACC Second Team. A 2011 graduate of Semiahmoo Secondary School in Surrey, British Columbia, she is a two-year starter for Felician. She has already moved into the Golden Falcons' top 10 in career hits with 107. Parker carries a 3.70 grade-point average as a business administration major.
CoSIDA's District I for NCAA Division II is comprised of all members of the CACC, East Coast Conference, and Northeast-10 Conference.
