RUTHERFORD, N.J. – A program-record nine members of the 2012 Felician College softball team have been honored as National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America Scholar Athletes.
The award is given to players for any NFCA-member coach who post a 3.50 or better grade-point average for the academic year which includes that spring's playing season. More than 4,000 student-athletes nationwide were honored at the NCAA, NAIA, junior-college and high-school levels.
Felician's honorees for 2011-12 are listed in the table below.
The Golden Falcons were also named an NFCA Division II All-Academic Team. Felician registered a 2011-12 team GPA of 3.380. That total placed the Golden Falcons 21st in the country, also a school record. A list of every Division II All-Academic Team can be viewed at https://nfca.org/index.php/news/135/4971-12-scholar-athlete-D2#teams.
"I am incredibly proud of my young ladies and all they have accomplished in the past year," said Felician head coach Lori Kwiatkowski. "Their phenomenal performance in the classroom is a reflection of the character, dedication, and work ethic that each of these ladies displays in all that they do."
Felician plays in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference. The Golden Falcons have reached the CACC playoffs in each of the last two seasons, and open the 2013 campaign with a non-league doubleheader at Virginia Union University on February 9.
