RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College junior Kristen Tenwolde (Ramona, CA/Ramona) has been named to the 2012 All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Softball Second Team, the CACC released today. The conference's 14 head coaches voted on the award winners.
Tenwolde, a 6-foot-2 right-handed pitcher, is an all-conference selection for the first time at Felician. In CACC action, she went 7-7 with a 2.08 earned-run average. She won five of her last six conference decisions during Felician's late-season run to the CACC playoffs.
Overall, Tenwolde has set Felician single-season school records with 27 starts, 19 complete games, and 144 1/3 innings pitched. She has posted a 9-16 record, a 3.64 ERA, and two shutouts, and is 10th in the CACC with 79 strikeouts. During the Golden Falcons' spring break trip to southern California, she faced five nationally-ranked teams (NCAA II or NAIA).
Tenwolde is in her second season with the Golden Falcons after transferring from Palomar Community College. She is already seventh in program history with 247 career innings. She is a 2009 graduate of Ramona High.
"I'm very happy and very proud of Kristen," said second-year Felician coach Lori Kwiatkowski. "She's a difference-maker for our team both in the pitching circle and as a team captain. She has put in so much work for this team, both in practice and on her own time, and it's great to see that effort rewarded."
The Golden Falcons (16-32, 13-13) are the No. 7 seed in the upcoming CACC Tournament. They take on No. 2 seed Caldwell College on Thursday at 10 a.m. in the first-round of the double-elimination event, which will be held on the campus of Georgian Court University in Lakewood, N.J.
Felician has now had 14 student-athletes earn all-conference honors this academic year.
