RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College freshman Aimee Lopez (Riverbank, CA/Riverbank) has been selected as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Softball Rookie of the Week, the CACC announced today. It is the first conference weekly award for a Felician softball player this season.
Lopez, a 5-foot-5 shortstop, was named primarily on the strength of her performance on Friday, when Felician swept a CACC home doubleheader from Post University. In those two games, she went a combined 6 for 7 with a triple and four runs scored, including a 4 for 4 performance in Game 1. For the week, she went 6 for 13 (.462) in four games as the Golden Falcons' leadoff hitter, slugged .615 and had on-base percentage of .500.
On the season, Lopez has played in 26 games, starting 25. Her .329 batting average, three triples, and five stolen bases all lead Felician. She has scored 10 runs and driven in five. Lopez is a 2011 graduate of Riverbank High.
Felician is a member of NCAA Division II. The Golden Falcons have a 4-24 overall won-lost record and are 2-6 in CACC play heading into Tuesday's league doubleheader at Georgian Court University.
