RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College senior Rob Albano (Pompton Plains, N.J./Pequannock Township) has been chosen as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men's Cross-Country Runner of the Week for the period ending Oct. 7, the CACC announced today. Albano earns the honor for the fourth consecutive week and the 17th time in his career.
The latest honor for the 5-foot-8 Albano comes on the heels of his individual victory in the Highlander Challenge, hosted by New Jersey Institute of Technology on Oct. 7 at Branch Brook Park in Newark. He clocked an 8,000-meter time of 24 minutes, 33 seconds, breaking his own school and meet record of 24:59 set last year. Albano bested a field of 160 runners and finished 42 seconds ahead of his nearest competitor.
With the victory, Albano completed an undefeated 2012 regular season, winning all four races he entered this season. He pushed his career total to nine invitational victories. More information is available at http://www.caccathletics.org/sports/xc/2012-13/releases/XCWeekly-6.
Felician, which is ranked No. 8 in the NCAA Division II East Region, is off until the CACC Championship on Sunday, Oct. 21 in Philadelphia. The Golden Falcons are the two-time defending conference champions, and Albano was the 2011 CACC Runner of the Year after winning last year's league race.
