Monfort, Ojeda Voted All-CACC In Men's Soccer

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician University seniors Kenny Monfort (Spring Valley, N.Y./St. Joseph Regional [N.J.]) and Maxi Ojeda (Yonkers, N.Y./DeWitt Clinton) have been named to the 2018 All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Soccer Second Team. The conference's award winners were voted on by its 13 head coaches and announced on Oct. 30.

Both players earn all-conference honors for the second time. Monfort was a Second-Team selection as a freshman in 2015. Ojeda earned Second-Team accolades last season.

"Kenny and Maxi were a pleasure to coach," said fifth-year Felician head coach Erik Kotynski. "I'm glad I have been able to watch them develop as players and men over the years."

Monfort, a 5-foot-6, 150-pound forward, ended his career riding a four-game goal-scoring streak, the longest by a Golden Falcon since 2010. In 15 games (14 starts) this season, he recorded six goals. Two of them were game-winners, including an Oct. 26 overtime score against eventual CACC champion Post University.

Monfort concluded his four-season stay at Felician with 19 goals and two assists in 57 contests. He is a 2015 graduate of St. Joseph Regional of Montvale, N.J.

"While Kenny wasn't always healthy, there was no questioning his skills or his effort when he was," Kotynski said. "He never gave up on himself or his abilities and was able to make his senior year a success."

Ojeda, a 5-foot-7, 140-pound midfielder, qualified for the all-CACC squad in both of his seasons with the Golden Falcons after transferring from ASA College-Brooklyn. This year, he turned in three goals and five assists in 11 starts. He assisted on all four Felician goals in a 4-3 Homecoming victory over Holy Family University on Oct. 13.

Ojeda is a 2013 graduate of DeWitt Clinton High of Bronx, N.Y. He recorded seven goals and eight assists in 24 matches as a Golden Falcon.

"Maxi was difficult for opposing teams to prepare for," Kotynski said. "He can beat you in so many ways on the attacking end and was just as impactful on defense."

Felician completed 2018 with a won-lost-tied record of 5-10-1. The Golden Falcons finished in ninth place in the CACC with a 5-7 league mark, missing the conference playoffs by three points.

Felician has now seen three student-athletes earn all-conference honors in the 2018-19 academic year.
