Lock Haven Men's Soccer Gets Better Of Felician, 4-1

LYNDHURST, N.J. – Lock Haven University scored twice in a four-minute, 35-second span late in the second half to secure its 4-1 non-conference men's soccer victory over host Felician University on Wednesday night at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex. Felician (0-3-1) wad playing for the fourth time in seven days to start the season.

Freshman Carlo Gonzalez (Pompton Lakes, N.J./Pompton Lakes) scored the only goal for the Golden Falcons. Junior Brian Flatter (Frederick, Md./Oakdale) registered a goal and two assists and classmate Andrew Moore (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley) notched a goal and an assist for Lock Haven (1-1-1).

The Bald Eagles piled up an 18-3 advantage in shots, led by four attempts each from Beckham Sibiski (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown) and Shane Colegrove (Athens, Pa./Athens). Junior goalkeeper Joe Sartori (Wood-Ridge, N.J./Wood-Ridge) collected seven saves for Felician.

LHU lit up the scoreboard on a well-executed set piece in the 16th minute. A free kick by Flatter found Nick Kuster (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem North) in the middle of the 18-yard box for a header. Sibiski scored in traffic in the 28th minute to put his side ahead, 2-0.

The hosts cut the deficit in half prior to halftime. Freshman defender Anthony Nole (Clifton, N.J./Clifton) was played the ball by Sartori, He dribbled down the right blank briefly before sending a long ball. Gonzalez beat his defender to the ball and finished from just beyond the box with 4:46 on the clock.

Sartori made three saves in the first three minutes of period two, and another Bald Eagle offering in the 53rd minute hit the left goalpost. The 2-1 score held until 6:55 remained in regulation. Sartori stopped a Christian Wieland (Elizabethtown, Pa./Muhlenberg) attempt, but the rebound caromed left to Flatter, who send a low shot across the goal mouth and into the lower right corner.

LHU completed the scoring by executing a corner kick with 2:20 to play. Bald Eagle keeper Camden Cook (Rosedale, Md./High Point) earned the victory with one save.

Felician begins Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play for 2018 by traveling to Goldey-Beacom College on Saturday for a 3:30 p.m. kickoff in Wilmington, Del.
