BALDWINSVILLE, N.Y. – Felician University freshman Jake Storako (Laurel Springs, N.J./Highland Regional) continued his steady spring semester scoring pace, finishing in a tie for sixth place out of 75 entrants in the Mike Bello Invitational men's golf tournament, hosted by Le Moyne College on Friday at Timber Banks Golf Club.
Competitors played two rounds in the one-day tournament, totaling 36 holes. Storako shot 75 in his morning round on the 6,739-yard par-72, then came back with a 76 for a five-over-par total of 151.
Storako led Felician to a 9th-place finish out of 14 teams. With team scores of 318 and 328 for a 646, the Golden Falcons were 13 strokes behind eighth-place Bentley University, and seven ahead of Saint Anselm College in 10th. Felician was fourth out of five Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference members in attendance.
Sophomore Justin Keiser (Bellport, N.Y./Bellport) was the only other Golden Falcon to finish in the top half of the field. Keiser shot 75 in Round 1 before slipping to an 83. His 158 tied for 29th place.
The host Dolphins won the event with totals of 298-304-602, defeating runner-up Wilmington (Del.) University by eight shots. John Clare of Le Moyne was the only player to shoot under par for the tournament, finishing -4 with 71-69-140.
Storako improved his stroke average for the season to 77.4 for 17 rounds. He is averaging 76.0 for seven rounds in the spring semester.
