Felician graduate Jimmy Schmitt returned to his alma mater in August 2015 to become the lead assistant for the Golden Falcons under first-year head coach Ivan Lewis. Schmitt had served as a student assistant for Felician in the 2012-13 academic year.
In between Felician stints, Schmitt spent two seasons as a graduate assistant coach at Frostburg (Md.) State University. Prior to joining Frostburg's staff, he was the head coach of the AAU U-17 New York Falcons.
Schmitt began his collegiate playing career at Bergen Community College, helping the bulldogs to a pair of regional championships. As a sophomore in 2009-10, he was the national assist leader in NJCAA Division III. Schmitt then transferred to Felician and set season and career Golden Falcon records for assist-to-turnover ratio that still stand. He was chosen Academic All-CACC and Capital One Academic All-District following his senior campaign.
Schmitt owns an A.A. in liberal arts from Bergen CC (2010), a B.S. in mathematics education from Felician (2013) and an M.S. in education administration from Frostburg State (2015). He graduated summa cum laude from Felician and served as vice president of the College's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Schmitt is a graduate of Elmwood Park Memorial High and was a member of the Crusaders' 2007 sectional championship team. He resides in Elmwood Park.
