Williams Chosen As CACC Defensive Player Of The Week

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician University senior Rahsaan Williams (Brooklyn, N.Y./Chelsea CTE) has been selected as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week for the period ending Jan. 13, the CACC announced today. Williams wins or shares the award for the second time this season and the fourth occasion in his Golden Falcon career.

Williams, a 6-foot-9, 235 forward, averaged 17.5 points, 9.0 rebounds (7.5 defensive) and 2.5 blocks as Felician captured a pair of conference road victories. He recorded his third double-double of the campaign with 21 points, 11 boards and two blocks in a Jan. 8 triumph at Concordia (N.Y.) College.

Felician held its two opponents for the week to 38 percent shooting from the floor and helped force 30 opposing turnovers. The Golden Falcons entered Monday ranked seventh nationally in NCAA Division II in defense rebounds per game (30.5) and eighth in total rebound average (43.5).    

Williams ranks second in the CACC and 26th in the country in rebounding (9.4 per game). He leads the league and is 10th nationally in blocks per game (2.46) while also averaging 9.8 points. Williams is a 2012 graduate of Chelsea Career, Technical and Education High School of New York City, and played two seasons for Genesee Community College in Batavia, N.Y.

Williams was the CACC co-Defensive Player of the Week on Nov. 19, 2018.

Also on Monday, Felician junior guard Zamir Wright (Newark, N.J./University HS) was chosen for the CACC's Weekly Honor Roll.

Felician (5-8, 3-3 CACC) is guided by fourth-year head coach Ivan Lewis of Lodi. Williams and the Golden Falcons are next in action on Wednesday, when they host Bloomfield College a conference tilt at 8 p.m. at Job Gymnasium in Rutherford.
