Miavivululu Named CACC Player Of The Week

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College senior Jeyvi Miavivululu (Paterson, N.J./Paterson Catholic) has been chosen as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the period ending Jan. 4, the CACC announced today. Miavivululu is the first Golden Falcon basketball player, male or female, to earn a CACC weekly award in the 2014-15 season.

Miavivululu, a 6-foot-7, 235-pound power forward, was honored on the strength of his performance in Felician's 64-60 home victory over regionally-ranked Holy Family University on Saturday. He broke a 60-60 tie by knocking down a 17-foot jump shot with 0:37.1 remaining to put the Golden Falcons ahead for good, capping a stretch which saw him score 10 of Felician's final 25 points. For the day he posted 18 points and seven rebounds.

Miavivululu has started all 12 games for the Golden Falcons this season. He is averaging 15.2 points and ranks ninth in the CACC with 7.8 rebounds per game. He is a 2009 graduate of Paterson Catholic High, and spent a postgraduate year at Avon Old Farms School in Avon, Conn.

Felician men's basketball is guided by sixth-year head coach Dave DeFerrari of Secaucus. Miavivululu and the Golden Falcons (1-11, 1-5) are next in action on Wednesday, when they host Bloomfield College in CACC play at 8 p.m. at Job Gymnasium in Rutherford.
