Felician Puts Five On CACC All-Academic Baseball Team

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Five Felician University baseball student-athletes have been named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Spring 2018 All-Academic Team, the CACC announced on Tuesday.

In order to be named to the CACC All-Academic Team, recipients must have used a season of eligibility while participating in a CACC spring championship sport, be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, be a second-year student-athlete at their current school, and have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or higher at the end of the immediate preceding term.

Senior catcher/infielder Brenden Cuni (New Rochelle, N.Y./Iona Prep) obtained the highest GPA among Felician's winners, a cumulative 3.91 through the fall 2017 semester. Cuni, in his second year at Felician after transferring from Westchester Community College, majored in criminal justice.

The Golden Falcons' other two senior honorees are repeat winners. Outfielder Matt Diesel (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Massapequa) (3.71, accounting) earns the award for the third time, while pitcher John-Paul Codelia (Brooklyn, N.Y./Xaverian) (3.60, nursing) is a second-time recipient.

Also qualifying for the CACC All-Academic Team were sophomore pitcher Keith Jacobs (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) (3.52, communications) and sophomore outfielder Vic Jamandron (Aberdeen, N.J./St. John Vianney) (3.63, business administration).

Felician is coached by Chris Langan of Hazlet. In the 14 years since the award's inception, Langan has placed 35 Golden Falcons on the CACC All-Academic Team.

In all, 46 student-athletes from the CACC's 12 baseball-playing member schools were honored. The complete list can be viewed at www.caccathletics.org/sports/bsb/2017-18/2018_CACC_BASE_All-Academic_Team.pdf.
