RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician University senior Matt Diesel (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Massapequa) has been chosen as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Baseball Player of the Week for the period ending Apr. 8, the CACC announced on Monday. Diesel wins the award for the second time in as many weeks.
Diesel, a 6-foot, 195-pound outfielder/designated hitter, batted .476 during a 4-2 week for Felician. He collected two doubles, two triples, four runs scored, and six runs batted in. During Game 2 of a home split with the University of the Sciences on Apr. 6, Diesel tripled in his first two at-bats. He became the Golden Falcons' all-time leader in three-baggers with 21, and the first Felician player to ever tally two triples in a game twice.

Diesel has started all 30 games for the Golden Falcons this season. He tops the CACC in batting average (.434), hits (49), and RBI (33). He is among Felician's career leaders in several other offensive categories, including ninth with 193 hits. Diesel is a 2014 graduate of Massapequa (N.Y.) High School.
Felician claims the CACC Baseball Player of the Week award for the third consecutive week. Freshman infielder Trevor Cykowski (Woodbridge, N.J./Woodbridge) was so honored for the period ending Mar. 25.
Also on Monday, Felician senior softball pitcher Ashley Owens (Lockport, N.Y./Starpoint) and sophomore first baseman Nicole Spiegelberg (Blauvelt, N.Y./Tappan Zee) were named to that sport's CACC Weekly Honor Roll.
Felician baseball (11-19, 9-5) is guided by 15th-year head coach Chris Langan. Diesel and the Golden Falcons are next in action on Wednesday, when they travel to Hockessin, Del., for a noon CACC doubleheader against Goldey-Beacom College.
