RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician University sophomore pitcher/first baseman Jason Polgano (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman) has been named to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-America Baseball Third Team at the utility-pitcher position, according to balloting released today.

Polgano makes Felician history by becoming the first Golden Falcon in any sport to attain All-America status above the honorable-mention level since the athletics program reclassified to the NCAA in 2003. Felician's two NCAA honorable-mention All-Americans were also baseball players, first-baseman Frank Quintana in 2007 and pitcher Jerry Vasto in 2014.

A complete list of the Golden Falcons' All-Americans, including from their NAIA era, can be viewed at http://felicianathletics.com/information/All-Americans/index.

The 6-foot-1, 180-pound Polgano, who throws and bats left-handed, emerged as a two-way standout for the Golden Falcons. The No. 6 hitter, in the Felician batting order, he started 34 games at first base, nine in right field, two in left field, and 10 at pitcher/designated hitter. He batted .347 with 30 extra-base hits, including seven home runs, scored 50 runs, and drove in 35. Polgano slugged .584 with a .413 on-base percentage.

On the mound, Polgano went 7-2 with a 2.70 earned-run average and a .216 opponent batting average. He pitched two complete-game shutouts, including one against Chestnut Hill College during the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) tournament. In 66 2/3 innings, he allowed 53 hits, struck out 53 batters and walked 21. He finished fifth in the CACC in both batting average and ERA.

Polgano was voted to the All-CACC first team, and to the all-East Region first team of both the D2CCA and the American Baseball Coaches Association. He was also named to the CACC All-Tournament team. He is a 2014 graduate of Cardinal Spellman High.

Polgano and the Golden Falcons won the program's second CACC Championship in 2016, and advanced to their second NCAA Tournament. They set school records for wins and winning percentage by finishing 34-21.
