RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician University sophomore Matt Blandino (Bristol, Conn./Briston Central) has been chosen as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Baseball Co-Pitcher of the Week for the period ending May 1, the CACC announced on Monday. Blandino shares the award for the third time this season.
Blandino, a 6-foot, 190-pound right-hander, pitched a three-hit shutout in Felician's 3-0 home victory over Concordia (N.Y.) College in Game 1 of a CACC doubleheader on Apr. 30. All three hits were singles. He struck out seven batters and walked none. In the process, he broke the Golden Falcon single-season for strikeouts, currently with 85, and became the second Felician pitcher to ever toss two complete-game shutouts in the same season.

Blandino completed the 2016 regular season with a 7-3 record and a 2.28 earned-run average in 13 appearances (12 starts). His seven wins and 85 strikeouts lead the CACC, and in 83 innings, he has given up 66 hits and 14 walks. Blandino is a 2013 graduate of Bristol Central High, and transferred to Felician after playing two seasons at Division-I Central Connecticut State University.
Blandino shared this week's award with senior Zachary Crim of Chestnut Hill College. Felician has won or shared the CACC Pitcher of the Week award five times this season.
Also on Monday, Felician junior designated hitter Brennan Price (Middlesex, N.J./Middlesex) was named to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll for the second consecutive week.
Felician is guided by 13th-year head coach Chris Langan of Hazlet. Blandino and the Golden Falcons (29-18, 14-6 CACC) are the CACC regular-season champions and the top seed for the conference tournament, the main draw of which begins on May 12 in New Castle, Del.
