Felician College student and former Golden Falcon baseball player Scott De Jong (North Haledon, N.J./Eastern Christian) was named the Player of the Month for July in the Pioneer League, Minor League Baseball recently announced.
De Jong (dee-YOUNG) is the first-baseman for the Ogden Raptors, a rookie-level affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers. In July, he batted .381 with seven home runs and 22 runs batted in. He finished second in the league for the month with 62 total bases and an OPS (on-base percentage plus slugging percentage) of 1.181. De Jong rattled off a 17-game hitting streak during July.
For the season, De Jong is hitting .325 in 45 games for Ogden. He has hit nine home runs, scored 32 runs, driven in 39, and stolen four bases.

De Jong took a "redshirt" season at the University of Connecticut in 2012 before playing two years for the Golden Falcons. He was an all-region selection during Felician's 2014 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference championship campaign, then was drafted by the Dodgers in the 32nd round.
De Jong is pursuing a BS in criminal justice from Felician.
