Langan Rounds Out 2015 Felician Baseball Staff

RUTHERFORD, N.J.Dan Palumbo of Mahwah has been named the associate head coach of the Felician College baseball team, Golden Falcon head coach Chris Langan announced today. Langan also revealed that he has hired Mike Mobbs of Stony Point, N.Y., as an assistant coach.

Palumbo is entering his 27th year as an NCAA baseball coach. He joined the Felician staff as a volunteer assistant in February 2014, just in time to help the Golden Falcons to their first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) championship. In his new role, he will continue to serve as the bench coach and hitting instructor.

Palumbo came to Felician after 12 seasons as the head coach of John Jay College. He led the Bloodhounds to City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) championships in 2002 and 2007, and was voted CUNYAC Coach of the Year three times. He was the director of athletics at John Jay from 2008-13.

Palumbo has also been the head coach of Ramapo College (1998-2000) and an assistant at Rutgers University, Stevens Institute of Technology, LIU Brooklyn, and Hofstra University. Since, 2008, he has been the lead instructor at the Under Armour Top 96 Clinics. He earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Empire State College in 1996, and is pursuing an MBA from Empire State.

Mobbs, a former professional outfielder, is entering his first collegiate coaching position. He spent the 2014 season as an assistant at Don Bosco Prepatory High School in Ramsey, his alma mater, and helped the Ironmen to the Bergen County Tournament championship.

Mobbs enjoyed a three-year independent professional career in the Frontier League, United League and American Association. He both began and ended with the Frontier League's Normal (Ill.) Cornbelters. He compiled 135 base hits in 135 professional games.

Mobbs was a captain and four-year letterwinner at Division-I Fordham University before graduating with a bachelor's in communications and media studies in 2010. He was selected for the 2008 Atlantic 10 Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll.

"These hirings give our staff a nice blend of experience and youth," said Langan, entering his 12th season in Rutherford. "Coach Palumbo is a wily veteran, and his wealth of experience is a huge asset to our program. Coach Mobbs is a great teacher with a professional background."

Palumbo and Mobbs join holdover Matt Marotta of Suffern, N.Y. on Langan's 2015 staff. Marotta is the Golden Falcons' pitching coach and recruiting coordinator.

Felician is a member of NCAA Division II. The 2014 Golden Falcons (30-20, 15-5 CACC) set a school record for wins while capturing their first CACC title.
