RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College senior Stephen Paladino (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Peter's Boys) was chosen as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Baseball Player of the Week for the period ending Apr. 13, the CACC announced on Monday.
Paladino earned a save and a win during Felician's 3-2 week. He recorded the final eight outs of the Golden Falcons' 5-0 Game 2 victory at Chestnut Hill College on Apr. 8. Starting four days later, he allowed one run on two hits over six innings in a 6-1 Game 2 home win over Post University. For the week, he struck out 14 batters in 8 2/3 innings, posting a 1.04 earned-run average and a .111 opponent batting average.
Paladino has appeared in 16 games this season, starting three. He is 2-2 with two saves and an ERA of 2.02. In 35 2/3 innings, he has yielded 23 hits, struck out 37 batters, and walked 19. Paladino is a 2009 graduate of St. Peter's Boys High School.
Paladino is Felician's all-time strikeout leader, currently with 248. His 11 wins rank fifth on the Golden Falcons' career list.
Also on Monday, Felician sophomore first-baseman Scott De Jong (North Haledon, N.J./Eastern Christian) was named to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll. Felician (17-13, 9-3 CACC), guided by 11th-year head coach Chris Langan of Hazlet, is ranked No. 8 in the most recent NCAA Division II East Region writers poll. The Golden Falcons sit in a tie for third place in the CACC, and will face the two teams ahead of them in the next three days.
